HEALING SPACE
Concrete buildings, 9-5 working days, traffic, pollution, and mundane daily chores often make up what we view as the average hustle and bustle of everyday life. As a result, we can find ourselves feeling lost, isolated, and detached from our friends, family, and ourselves. Sometimes, all we need is an escape.

The Healing Space provides a getaway from these usual routines. Located in the Blue Mountains National Park, it is the ultimate breakaway from urban society as it wholeheartedly embraces nature. The concept is inspired by inducing feelings of familiarity and comfort, utilising a traditional gable rooftop to evoke a homey and snug sensation from within.

Floor to ceiling windows have been placed at the rear of the residence to take advantage of the remarkable, endless views of the mountains. These allow scattered pieces of natural light and shadows to seep into the space through the surrounding Blue Gum trees, with the soft dappling patterns eliciting feelings of peace and tranquillity. The selection of materials continues the relationship with nature through variations of timber and stone applied throughout the open plan abode. The patterns and colour palette of the natural stone utilised within the kitchen reflects the qualities of the location in which the Healing Space is situated. In this way, the Healing Space brings the outside in and provides serenity. Furnishings are kept minimal, reducing distractions and allowing guests to feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and replenished as they enjoy the natural surroundings.
